Our Daily Discoveries at Gifted Minds HLA

Foundations

Cognitive development is enriched through daily exposure to art, science, math, writing, literacy and social skills, in alignment with the Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards to promote and ensure kindergarten readiness. Classrooms are designed to encourage children to engage in independent decision making and provoke pure thoughts. Using an emergent curriculum, we strive to help children develop critical thinking skills, become creative and original thinkers, and discover the wonder of learning.

Discovery and Wonder

By learning through their senses, our children learn to problem solve, become socialized with other children and gain the skills needed as they start exploring this wondrous world of ours. Children are seen as active learners—who explore, collaborate and solve problems in a very hands-on way. This active involvement in their own play, learning and discovery changes and transforms their knowledge, their skills and abilities, their values and their ways of seeing the world.

Exploring paint with our body parts is a fascinating experience for early learners. It keeps them connected to their art and gives art new meaning and lasting memories.

Children explore the primary colors red, yellow and blue when painting to learn different ways to make more colors. This concept is used often when painting branches and other wood materials.

Natural Art

The natural world can be a great friend and teacher to young children because it offers infinite opportunities for wonder and learning, with surprises around every corner. Children love to use grass, flowers, leaves, sticks, rocks, mulch, bark, pine cones, seeds, and more in their art, using their imaginations as they go through the process of creating, investigating and exploring art with natural materials.
