Greetings from Kaila J. Gordon, Director & Edu-Carer
Since my early childhood, I have developed a keen passion for helping and nurturing young children. The development of a young impressionable mind has always excited me. I know that I have a natural ability to stimulate and encourage independent thinking and learning. It wasn’t until I began working with under-privileged youth at the age of nineteen that I recognized the magnitude of my influence on young children, particularly age’s two to five. I can truly say that I have a genuine love for children of all ages. As a woman, mother and seasoned mentor, I am determined to become a pillar of strength and encouragement to every young child I am privileged to know, because the foundation of a child’s success in life is built upon the experiences of their early childhood.
My professional experience includes working with children of all ages for over 15 years. I have worked in NAEYC accredited daycare facilities as a teacher's assistant in Washington, DC. Before I relocated to Conyers, I was employed by the DC Department of Parks and Recreation for over 7 years. During that time, I directed and coordinated various citywide summer camp programs, implemented and supervised year round recreational and educational programming for infants through young adults, mentored and tutored elementary age children of different ethnicities and economic backgrounds and directed two successful after school programs.
I love that I have the opportunity to wake up every day and work with children. I find great fulfillment in being an important part of each child's life that I care for and consider it a privilege to care for them. Their smiles and laughter are a constant inspiration; their joy is my passion and my passion is my purpose!
